Medical Marijuana

The past few decades have made one thing abundantly clear: medicinal cannabis works, and it works well. America is currently embroiled in the worst opioid epidemic in its history, with much of the problem stemming from prescription narcotics. But America does not have to yield to the pharmaceutical industry anymore.

We can implement a new cash crop right here in South Carolina that will send millions of dollars flooding into our economy, providing a revolutionary method of treatment for our citizens. Medical marijuana will provide boundless therapeutic uses for patients struggling with cancer, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and many other diseases.

I have personally seen the value of medicinal marijuana during my 28-year career in the U.S. Army. I saw soldiers struggling with PTSD who chose to self-medicate on marijuana rather than addictive painkillers. I watched soldiers who struggled with nightmares and flashbacks experience mental clarity and serenity.

On the campaign trail, I have had many individuals tell me stories of their family members who struggled with sleep apnea, fibromyalgia, and even ALS and benefited from medical marijuana.

It is downright criminal to deprive American citizens of this natural medicine that has been proven to have so much clinical value.

When I am elected as your congressman, I will fight to:

  • Legalize, tax, and regulate medicinal marijuana nationwide
  • Reschedule marijuana from a class 1 drug to a class 5
  • Allow and fund scientific studies on cannabis and its medical properties
  • Use federal tax revenue from medicinal marijuana sales to partially fund a nationwide, trillion-dollar infrastructure plan
  • Mandate insurance companies, including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, etc., cover medicinal marijuana

Legalizing medicinal marijuana will be a win for the American people, and will set us up on the world stage as a leader in compassion and medical advancement.
